Tired

I was out far too late last night. And we had friends staying over. And i forgot to bring a key paper into work yesterday so I had to come in early this am to prepare for the meeting at 10am. (like I am clearly doing whilst blogging here!). This all adds up to me being tired. Which is not good when the weekend ahead is far too busy and wont include many opportunities for sleep! So I hope I am not too grumpy.

Last friends episode being shown here tonight. Am going to alex;s for a bit of a girlie night in and am really looking forward to it! It is also the first episode of the new big brother which is quite well timed as far as i am concerned. I do enjoy both of those programmes!

Wedding tomorrow evening, football on sunday and seeing carol (and matt and paul) and my family on monday. So all far too busy!

Hope you all have a good long bank holiday!

Back again

And no, we havent sold the flat. How depressing. We did have someone come for a second viewing but they didnt like it enough to buy it apparently.

I was working from home for a couple of days, went to Leicester with work for a couple of days (dont ask- v v dull) and had some meetings back at my proper employer (rather than the one I am at secondment to) yesterday. So I have been busy and it is rather stressful! But not too long til our 2 weeks off so I can just about keep going.

Not much news other than that really. Except that this (bank holiday) weekend I am going to watch some football at our national stadium (which is in Cardiff as London doesnt seem capable of having one any more...). Cant believe I agreed to do this but it will make my man happy so I guess that is the important thing!

Two more friends have had babies- Emma had a girl, Madeleine Grace and Kate had a boy, Toby. Cant wait to see them both! Emma's birth lasted 3 minutes apparently and Madeleine nearly arrived into the toilet..... (They say that second births are easier but not sure they are supposed to be that easy?!)

So

How annoying is this? I needed to speak to a particular bloke at work. His diaries and mine are not compatible so I come in v early to be able to have time to speak with him. Then he goes and has a meeting with someone else in my slot so I dont get to see him after all! What is that all about? As my colleagues here would say 'that wouldnt happen at the Bank'....

Enjoyed a brilliant evening last night with my friend Debbie back at home. We went to one or two pubs by the river and it was such an amazingly gorgeous evening that it was packed! But it had atmosphere and we really enjoyed ourselves...

Better do some work!

Might not be posting for the next week or so as am not in the office (long story) so dont miss me too much!

Books

I could copy the list of books that my friend Lisa has put on her site. But despite reading an awful lot I dont seem to have covered a substantial proportion of them so it could be embarrassing! But do go there and have a look for yourself the volume of these books you have read.

Interesting to get recommendations though. I definitely think that Birdsong by Seb Faulkes is one of the best on the list so people should makes sure they have read that! But Lisa recommends A Secret History by Donna Tartt which I have yet to read so I will go away and do that (after the Football Factory which I am reading at the moment- really horrible. Not sure I recommend that one!)

Still havent sold

Noone has yet put in an offer on our (gorgeous) flat. We had a surprise viewing yesterday (we had been told there is no interest at the moment at any properties in our price range) so it wasnt quite as spick and span as it normally is ! But no feedback (obviously) as our agent hasnt got any better!

But the sun is still shining in London and Simon is managing to get away from work a bit earlier at the moment so life is pretty good! (And less than three weeks at work now until we have 2 whole weeks off!). Cant wait...

Last night was supposed to be gym and cleaning bathroom. It turned out to be a mess round in the pool (cant really say it was a swim)and a visit to the pub. We played battleships and sat outside in the garden (it must be warm for me to agree to do that). What a great pub! (And I won battleships so that was a great game too!)...

Gorgeous Summer!

Has it now arrived officially? Four days of wonderful sunshine in a row must count, surely?

What did we do with it? Spent time reading papers in the sunshine by the dock mostly. Did go to a bbq (best bbq food i have ever had!) with simon's best friend etc and sunday lunch with simon's sister so it was quite sociable. My gym efforts were good this weekend- ran a mile on both sat and sun as well as the usual sit-up and swim routine. So all in all quite good really!

This week is looking rather busier than I want it to- esp as I am v busy with work at the mo...But a girl has to make sure she regularly sees her friends and family!

Mildly Amusing Tale

It is more amusing for me as I am not the subject of comedy. I went for drinks at my new favourite bar with Alex last night. She and didnt have too much to drink and didnt stay out too late (though it was tip top to see her). So you can imagine my amusement when I get a text message at 10.45 saying that she had fallen asleep on the train home and was near the end of the line. And what's more she had decided not to get on the train going back in the opposite direction that happened to be in when she changed platforms because she didnt think it was the right one! By the time she realised it was the right one it was too late and she had to wait 30 mins for the next one! She got in 3 hours after we left the pub. Not at all what we had planned for her as she was already really quite tired. I pity the children in her class today as I suspect she will be a grouchy teacher!

Boys

Not that I dont love them. I feel v fortunate to have found such a special one who wanted to marry me. But they do need a bit of training, dont they? Mine has a dodgy foot. He was v good about going to the doctors about it at first but has now given up on that idea, even though it isnt getting any better. And he wont rest it. And it is restricting what we can do. Aaaahhhh! I am glad I married someone with his own mind. But sometimes I wish he would just do what I tell him!

Not much to say

Yesterday evening was nice- i went for a swim instead of the gym and ate some food then watched some stuff on TV. Nothing too exciting but v pleasant. Not too hectic for a change !

Work is rather busy at the mo so not too much time for blogging!

Please dont forget to leave me a comment so I know you have been to see me!

Being interesting

It seems that as you read various blogs, everyone has one subject that another that they default to discussing (because it is fundamental to their life at the time I suppose) but that they feel guilty about going on about too much- usually noone else minds. I guess I feel like that about the moving thing for me. It is up there with fundamentals of my life at the mo and therefore easy to bang on about it all the time. But it cant be as interesting for everyone else as it is for me so i will try to talk about other parts of my life! But I will just add (for the sake of anyone who is wondering) that the water had stopped dripping through the ceiling when we got back from work last night so we were happy. Reckon a lick of paint and we can get it back on the market soonish!

So do I have anything else to talk about? Last night we went out with some of Simon's friends who are now living in the Cayman Islands but were back for a visit. They are lovely, friendly people and I would like to go and visit them over there! And we met at Gabriel's Wharf which is a part of London I really enjoy spending time in (ie it isnt the West End - Covent Garden and I are bitter enemies).

My parents are on holiday in Spain. Since my wedding (September) they have been to China, India, Italy and now Spain! And they are off to Portugal, Iceland, Ireland and Spain again before our wedding anniversary! And they are not even retired yet. This is clearly ridiculous. (I am just jealous). Simon and I are planning our trip to Ireland in June (a week's walking in county kerry) and slovenia and croatia for September. Any tips of places to go or stay in those parts would be gratefully accepted!

Disaster!

We have now had three viewings. Interest in our flat seemed to picking up. Then we woke up this morning and discovered that water was dripping into our flat from the flat above us! Oh dear. So no more viewings for the time being then!

We had had such a lovely weekend too. Simon's parents came up to view the new kitchen (S's foot meant we had to abandon our original plans of going to see all my friends from home) and we had a great lunch with them and then went to go and see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (we both really enjoyed this). Then yesterday we chilled. (including church, gym, roast, papers etc)

So now we are waiting for our ceiling to stop dripping and to dry out!

Bummer

Disappointment

Simon has done his foot in. We arent really sure how but it means that he can hardly walk on it. Going to work is a real struggle (even more so than normal!). Anyway it means that we have to change our plans for the weekend- we were going to go to his parents' place tonight and then go on to a friend's 30th birthday party tomorrow- all the friends from that group are going to be there. but we will be stuck in London instead. Boooo! I know it is best as S needs to get his foot better but we were going to do a really long bike ride too!

Anyway it was brilliant to see my friend (the one I hadnt seen for five years) last night. It was as if we last met last week. Lots to catch up on. It was weird though because we saw someone that we both knew there. And then I saw someone I went to secondary school with! Really weird evening.

I came home, made S some food as he can hardly stand up and then went for a swim. Very pleasant indeed.

No more news

So we had someone round to visit our place last night. And no feedback at all. Not even - it is horrible. Or they bought one of the other two in the same block that they also went to see last night (which are bound to be far nicer than ours with a balcony and river views!) or that they are still 'thinking about it'.... What a rubbish agent we have. And we put flowers in the bathroom and everything (thanks for the tip Maija!).

I went for drink with a friend of mine who is currently on crutches and felt v bad because I picked a pub that was miles away from where he works. What a rubbish friend I am. Nice to catch up though.

Tonight I am seeing someone I havent seen for at least 5 years. Hope it goes OK! She got married a week or so apart from me and so I guess we have lots to talk about!

House stuff

It seems that I forgot to mention a v significant part of my life at the moment! The fact that our flat is on the market (this is the one we live in rather than the other one). We have found a lovely house in a place called Oxted which is close to the M25 on the Surrey/ Kent border. It has a brilliant train line into London Bridge, is v near the countryside and not too far from either set of parents. We have had an offer accepted on this house and they have taken it off the market for 3 weeks (one of those has now gone by!). So the issue for us is to sell our place. We went with what we thought were the best agents but they havent done very well at getting people inside the place. There was meant to be a viewing on the first day it came on the market but that was cancelled. However, there is (supposedly!) another viewing tonight. Hurrah! We want someone to want it! Will keep you all posted....

Long Weekend

I spent it with the girls (Alex and Rachel- friends from University) in Bristol. Rachel has the most amazing place there. It took them a while to get it but, boy, was it worth it?! It is amazing. huge. We chilled on Friday night, after a surprisingly good journey down there. Drank too much red wine between us. Saturday we had a sleep in, went to Rachel's granny's 93rd birthday party (met all the uncles, aunts etc which is useful ahead of the wedding this summer I suppose!). Then we had lunch and went shopping in a v posh bit of Bristol (lots of rich, rude people!). I tried not to spend too much money...Then some friends came round for tea and cake (which rapidly turned into G&T and crisps- though not for me!). Then we went out in the evening with Rachel's sister and boyfriend and a friend of his that plays in a band so the two of them were totally starstruck.....Quite an amusing night (although I was v glad to be totally sober!).
Sunday we went for a long walk (the weather had turned nice!) and a wonderful pub lunch in the sunshine before a v quick drive home. I then was able to spend some time with my husband! We did lots of domestic jobs as well as going to the gym and generally catching up! It all went far too quickly. Cant believe I am back at work all over again!

Still no interest in our flat.... (Did I mention it is on the market?)
