The football

result is so bad i am not even going to speak about it. Except to say 'we was robbed'.

But it did take up most of the evening yesterday so I dont have much else to say about it!

I am off to Bristol for a hen weekend this weekend. Dont think it will be particularly outrageous but should be good fun and a great opportunity to catch up with lots of old friends. Simon has no plans and is therefore going to sleep lots and read lots I suppose- quite envious of him really!

have a good weekend everyone!

Headache

Last night was busy but fun. Supermarket followed by gym followed by food and then to see the new Harry Potter film. Really enjoyed it. It helped me de-stress after a v v busy day indeed. I was in a bit of a bad mood when I got home but Simon was v sweet and patient and helped me to relax by suggesting all these things...

Today has become stressful again unfortunately. I am (as usual) trying to do too many things at one time - inside work and outside. Work is particularly annoying at the moment to be honest but I usually have it so easy and cushy that I shouldnt be complaining!

We did it!

It was a brilliant game. Never seen so many goals in one game in my life I dont think! And because France won too it means our next game is Thurs instead of Fri (when I am on a hen weekend) so I can actually watch it! It will mean not going to see Harry Potter until next week but that is fine! HURRAH!

Today the sun seems to be shining again which is rather nice. The summer is beginning and life is good!

Our house-buying doesnt seem to be moving along very quickly but I am impatient and want to move in now! I know it will extend my journey time into work considerably but we will have our own garden!

So tonight I will be doing boring house-cleaning things that have been neglected for a little while. Something to look forward to at the end of a hard day's work anyway!

So

the big question is whether England will manage to draw against Croatia tonight. If they dont manage it, we will be out of Euro 2004! In some ways, that is a good thing as my heart isnt what it used to be. But it would be a shame nevertheless. Tim Henman might find he has less pressure put on him in this year's Wimbledon (started today!) if England dont fall out of the football tonight!

Watch this space!

Back!

We had totally amazing weather in Ireland. It was so hot that the water supply to our little cottage ran out and we had this dreadful emergency supply that actually smelt of metal! But apart from that we just enjoyed walking in the amazing countryside (it really is so very beautiful there) and reading lots of books (and even the daily newspaper which I definitley dont get time for back home).

On return the bank's valuation of the house we are about to buy looks good so it is all systems go on the moving front (despite certain people saying that this isnt a good time to buy a new place we dont necessarily agree and are going ahead anyway!). Really cant wait to be honest. The jams coming back into London on our way home from the airport just told me once again that we are doing the right thing to be moving out into the 'burbs!

Anyone out there got any interesting news that I have missed? (I read the most recent Harry Potter book and thought it was good!). We are going to get around to seeing the current film (the third one) soon. Also- more book recommendations- the Alexander McAll series of the No1 Ladies Private Detective Agency is just brilliant. I have read four of the five in the series and cant wait to get my hands on the last one !

Back Briefly

So I have had one week off work. It has gone far too quickly! It has involved catching up with lots of people (family and friends), doing lots of exercise and doing lots of things involved with selling/buying property!! The weather has been amazing. So we have been very fortunate. We are off to Kerry, Ireland tomorrow for a week. So definitley no blogging there!

Hope you are all well!

Catch up again on Mon 21 June

Off now

Today was my last day in work for 2 weeks! Hurrah. A week at home followed by a week's walking the Kerry Way in South West Ireland. Cant wait. So unlikely I'll do much blogging (but I will try!).

Have a good couple of weeks!

Night In

Hurrah! Last night we had a night in! The first in over a week. And it felt good. I didnt get to the gym but we did eat lots of fruit and I did do lots of ironing!

And I think we might have found a buyer! The house we want to buy is still available so I think it is all systems go....

Cook club

Went out for some drinks with work friends last night (from the place that employs me rather than where I am on secondment to). Hadnt seen one of them for ages (Tim - Maija if you are reading this!) and he is involved in a 'cook club' with friends that live near him. once a month they get together and cook a new recipe for them all- taking it in turns to do the cooking. It sounds like a great way to force yourself to acquire new skills and to cook new things! I reckon some of the rest of us that were present last night might try and do the same! Anyway we had a lovely evening (in my new favourite bar in London - surprise surprise!). Anyone else heard of these? I have heard of book clubs which also sound good but not a cook club!

This morning i went to the doctors for an immunisation ahead of my long weekend in Turkey which is coming up in July. My hep A and typhoid had run out so needed them re-doing. So now have a v stiff left arm !

Measure for Measure

I saw this at the National last night (it is their £10 season!). It really is an excellent production. Not sure if anyone famous is in it but it didnt matter because the quality of the acting was second to none- it was directed v v well and it is a great play. Made we want to go to the theatre lots more- but i guess the £10 season doesnt last forever and the tickets are hard to come by anyway! No interval though and it still lasted 2 1/2 hours. Does anyone know if it is classed as a tragedy or a comedy? It seems to be one of those plays that doesnt quite fit into any category...

Manic Weekend

I spent the grand total of 7 hours in the flat before 11pm yesterday! That included time spent asleep. It was crazy and just like my life used to be. All were good things but there were too many of them!

The last friends episode was good I thought. (I'm not an especially big fan but I did quite enjoy it). I also discovered (a few years behind most of my friends) that I quite like gin and tonic to drink! (Bombay Sapphire though, not the Gordons stuff!). It was a fun girlie evening.

Saturday Simon came to join me at Alex's and we all went shopping together and had some food. S and I then went off to an evening wedding reception on the East coast of the country. It was really nice as people were really friendly.

Drove home, got about 6 hours sleep and then got up v early to drive to Wales to see Brighton (S supports them!) play Bristol in the Div 2 play-offs. It was a good game (S's team won and have now been promoted to Div 1 next season!) although the 6 hours we had to hang around Cardiff town centre with too many excited football fans were less than pleasant!

Then drove to my friend Rachel's in Bristol where we had bbq and stayed mon night. Lots of excitement with the youngsters next door trying to kill each other (literally- we had police, fire engines galore!). Drove back to Surrey yesterday to meet up with some more friends of mine (with an 18 month old baby) and then a family meal on Mon evening for my brother's birthday. (Dad had a bit too much wine and it was a v pleasant, amusing evening!). Arrived home at 11pm.

So didnt arrive in work particularly early this am! Guess I had better get on with some work !
